Most kids are afraid of going to the dentist, but I've always been afraid of going to the eye doctor. If I can't read a clock without glasses, I definitely could not read an eye chart without glasses and one eye closed.
This past weekend, I went to The Dream Eye Center in Gangnam and had Lasek. The doctors were friendly and best of all, they spoke English. I found out this is a popular place for foreigners and pop singers who want to get lasek in Korea. Random combination, but I'll take that as a good sign. The procedure was quick and painless, minus a panic attack on my part. But I think that is normal for anyone who has to watch part of their cornea being scraped away and has a fear of the laser missing, resulting in going truly, black-out blind.
I may have wandered around the subway at the wrong exit, nearly run into a pole, and missed a step or two, but I can finally read a clock! Stay tuned...
Peace & Love,
Elissa Rae
